T. L. Crawford — Author Website
Last updated: 4 November 2026
Hello, and welcome!
I'm T. L. Crawford, an independent author, and this is my little corner of the internet.
I take your privacy seriously. This page explains what personal information may be collected when you visit my website, subscribe to my newsletter, or get in touch with me, and what happens to that information afterwards.
I'll try to keep things straightforward. Nobody should need a law degree to understand a Privacy Policy!
If you simply browse my website, I don't personally ask you to provide any information about yourself.
However, the services that operate the website may process technical information, such as your IP address, browser details and information needed to display the website.
If you subscribe to my monthly newsletter, The Writing Desk, I collect:
Your email address.
Any writing-related topic suggestion you choose to submit.
Subscription information, such as when you signed up and whether you confirmed your subscription.
My newsletter service may also collect information about email delivery and engagement, such as whether newsletters have been opened and which links have been clicked.
If you contact me by email, I'll also receive whatever information you choose to include in your message.
I use your information to:
Send you The Writing Desk, my monthly newsletter about writing, storytelling, my books and my journey as an author.
Send subscription confirmation messages and provide any free resources offered when you subscribe.
Consider your suggestions for future newsletter topics.
Respond to messages or enquiries you send me.
Manage newsletter subscriptions and maintain the security of my communications.
Understand how my newsletter is performing, using engagement information provided by Kit.
For newsletter subscriptions, I rely on your consent. You choose whether to subscribe, and you can change your mind at any time.
If you email me, I'll use the information you've shared to respond to your message and deal with any related correspondence. Under data protection law, this is generally covered by what's known as a legitimate interest.
I use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to manage subscriptions and send The Writing Desk.
When you subscribe, your email address and any optional topic suggestion are processed through Kit.
You'll be asked to confirm your subscription by email before you begin receiving my newsletter.
Every newsletter will include an unsubscribe link. If you decide you've had quite enough of my literary ramblings, you can leave whenever you wish. No hard feelings!
Kit also provides newsletter engagement information, such as whether emails have been opened and whether links have been clicked. Some of this information is collected using tracking technologies, including small tracking images and tracked links.
You can read more about Kit's privacy practices at:

I don't sell or rent my subscribers' personal information to anyone.
I use third-party services to operate my website, manage subscriptions and communicate with readers. These include:
Google Sites, which hosts my website.
Kit, which manages newsletter subscriptions and delivery.
Zoho Mail, which I use for my author email correspondence.
These providers may process information to deliver their services, maintain security and perform other activities described in their privacy notices.
I may also need to disclose information where legally required.
International data transfers
Kit is a US-based service, so newsletter subscriber information may be processed outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States.
Kit documents safeguards for international data transfers in its Data Processing Addendum, including recognised data protection frameworks and contractual protections where applicable.
Other service providers may also process information outside the UK, subject to their applicable transfer arrangements.
You can read Kit's Data Processing Addendum at:

If you're subscribed to my newsletter, I'll retain the information needed to manage your subscription while you're subscribed.
If you unsubscribe, I'll stop sending you the newsletter. Limited information may be retained where necessary to honour your unsubscribe request, maintain consent records or meet legal obligations.
If you contact me by email, I'll keep your correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry and any related follow-up or obligations.
My website is built using Google Sites.
I haven't installed Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or any other visitor-tracking or advertising tools myself.
However, Google Sites and embedded third-party services, including Kit, may use cookies or similar technologies to operate their services, maintain security or provide functionality.
Some technologies may also collect information about interactions with website content or forms.
Where UK law requires consent for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, that consent must be obtained before they are used.
